ABOUT ME 🏳️🌈
Hello, beautiful people!
My name is Eli (they/them), and I'm non-binary. I love my cat, crocheting, Squishmallows, and speaking out for my community. Due to the political circumstances of where I live, I often find myself speaking out for the sake of my humanity and for the sake of holding onto hope. Most importantly, I speak as a form of resistance. Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera are my biggest role models as trans women of color in a time of polarization, fear, and calamity, and I lend all my accomplishments to their revolution.
Another big part of my life that I speak on is the topic of mental health and the importance of having the hard conversations surrounding it. I've done work in the area with internships, clubs, and outreach, but the most experience I've had is facing struggles myself. As an opinionated, queer kid in the South, many things don't come easy for me from finding jobs to navigating school to asserting my identity every day.
I'm proud of how far we've come in the United States, but we have a long way to go in achieving equity for all bodies, all backgrounds, and all stories. Keep up the good fight and thank you for coming along for the ride.
- Eli
